Darrel started SMS in 1983 because the industry needed a mechanical service company that was independent of the equipment manufactures and was still very knowledgeable of their chillers and boilers. He knew that if he was going to be successful he would have to make training of his technicians a priority. In today’s market he feels the same way that training of his technical people is a priority.
After graduating college from the University of Kentucky, I took a full time position as a project manager where I juggled several multimillion dollars projects. During this period, I attended and graduated from the Institute for Project Management offered by the Mechanical Contractors Association. I currently hold the title of Director of Operations with Scarborough Mechanical. This position allows me to get more involved in the day-to-day tasks associated with running a service business.
